Arthritis of the Blood

Question
My mother has also been told she may have Arthritis of the Blood and is having a blood test done.  I saw Jo's question and your answer that you had not heard of such a thing.  Did Jo get back to you with any further info.  My mother has been given no further information and it concerns me that the doctor doesn't seem to be explaining why she is having the test.  My mother's symptoms were tiredness, a fuzzy muddled feeling in her head with a tender spot when she touches it. She does sometimes get migraine type headaches. Sometimes she gets pains in her legs (but this is since she has taken up dancing!).

Answer
Sharon,

I am not sure what the doctor is talking about or if your mother heard correctly. There is no such thing as arthritis of the blood or blood vessels. Arthritis means inflammation of a joint or joints.

Jo did not get back to me but further research has confirmed that there is no such condition. While it is mentioned on the internet there is nothing anywhere in the medical literature.

There are different things you can find in the blood when you have different types of arthritis. RA Factor and ANA are two things you look for in the blood when you are trying to diagnose different types of arthritis, there are other things as well.

It would be good to have someone go with your mother to appointments. Many times two heads are better than one.

I hope they find out what is ailing you mom.

Rusty
