QuestionI have scleraderma limited. I was diagnosed about 5 years ago and it is likely that I have had symptoms for over 20 years. I am 62 years old. I have studied yoga for over 30 years and have taught for 21 years. I would like to know if any studies have been conducted on scleraderma and yoga. Also, I would be interested in developing classes for individuals with scleraderma. I live in Kensington MD which is in the greater Washington DC area. Several years ago, I had some training with the Arthritis Foundation but the focus was aerobic exercise. I find the stretching and relaxation to be a valuable tool for relieving the effects of stress and depression. Thanks.
AnswerThe Scleroderma Foundation's Bluebonnet Chapter commissioned a yoga video several years ago and have had the instructor, Kathleen Randolph, teach a yoga workshop at their national convention. I attended one of the workshops and used the video and found it very challenging! It is great stretching and also good for stamina and posture.
