Question
My 70 year old grand father has got a severe back pain since very long.He is neither  able to sit nor sleep.The unbearable pain extends from his back to his knees.The doctor we consulted recently suggested a mri scan of his lumbar spine.Im enclosing the details of mri scan impression .
*The T1 iso to hypo and T2 iso to hyperintense lesionin the right lateral aspect of L2 vertebral body suggests the possibilities of metastas/lymphoma.
   
*Mild compression of thecal sac by postero inferior portion of L2 vertebral body

*Central and predominantly right paracentral herniation of L3-L4,L4-L5&L5-S1,discs with thecal and root compression.


*Canal and neural forminal stenosis at L3-L4,L4-L5&L5-S1 disc levels.


Can you please  explain what the problem really is and can you please suggest the necessary precautions to be taken.

Unfortunately I am not an expert on back problems.  My bio says I can answer questions related to hip replacements, so this question is definitely out of my area.

I suggest though, that you sit down with the doctor and ask for a layman's explanation of what is going on with your father and if you are not satisfied, seek a second opinion.
