QuestionHi There!
Ortho experts--who are they? My dad had hip replacement a year ago, felt great, played golf, pain free--but now pain is back. Dad can barely walk, and he's 65 and formerly very mobile, avid walker and golfer. Suspecting infection of the new hip replacement, they did cultures--came back negative. DAd is willing to go anywhere in the US or Canada for his hip pain. His orthopedic surgeon says he gives up on finding the cause of my dad's pain. Who is the equivalent of Mayo Clinic for Orthopedic problems??? Any other ideas are appreciated as well. I am an RN in Texas.

AnswerThere are two specialty hospitals that I know of.
One is in NYC and the other is in Arlington VA.
The one in NYC is the Hospital for Special Surgery and the doctor there that your dad should see is Dr. Padgett.
The other hospital is the Anderson Orthopedic Clinic in Arlington VA. That clinic is run by Dr. Charlie Engh. I had surgery by Dr. Engh because no one in my area had done more than three revisions and my doctor was afraid to do the surgery and referred me there.
Either one of those hospitals are the best in the nation.
Best of luck to you dad.
