QuestionI AM 9 MONTHS POST-OP FOLLOWING KNEE SURGERY. I HAD ARTHROSCOPIC WITH LATERAL RELEASE. I HAVE BEEN HAVING SEVERE PAIN AND SWELLING IN THE TOP OF MY FOOT AND BIG TOE. I AM ON MY FEET ALOT, BUT WHEN I HAVE DOWN TIME, I KEEP IT ELEVATED...ANY IDEAS ON WHAT CAN BE CAUSING THIS OR ANY IDEAS HOW I CAN REDUCE THE PAIN? THANKS!!
AnswerHi Leslie,
The best thing you can do is ice, elevation, rest and taking glucosamine sulfate 3000mg/day with MSM to stop osteoarthritis from taking hold. In addition, get it ultrasounded 3/week to break up scar tissue. This therapy can be found at most DC's or PT's offices. Return to the surgeon if symptoms persist another month or so.
I ask only that you take a few seconds to rate my response. Your feedback helps me refine my expertise and helps to guide future questioners.
Good Luck!
