Question
Sharon, On Sept. 17th,2007, three months ago app., I had total knee replacement surgery. Since then, my knee stays extremely hot. My doctor said that I was allergic to the apparatus that was placed in my knee and that it would quit after my system adjusted to it. Your answer -- please.

I feel badly but I can't answer your question because my expertise is in hips.  I guess I can relate it to the hips since I also have apparatus in my hips but you really need to take my answer with a grain of salt.

If I were you, I'd get a second opinion on his answer.  I was under the impression that if you are allergic to something, your body has to make anti-bodies in order to fight off the allergy.  That's why people get allergy shots, to give them antibodies that fight off the allergy.

If I were you, I'd find a teaching hospital in the area, and look for the Chair of the Orthopedic department.  See if you can get a consult.  Also, you might want to post your question to someone on allexperts who is in the area of allergies or internal medicine.

I wish I could be more helpful.  I'm sorry.

Sharon
