My granddaughter will have a total hip replacement just before her 13th birthday, due to SCFE.  When is it realistic for her to 1)return to school and 2)ride (mount) the school bus?

The normal time to start to get back to activities is 6-8 weeks, but depending on if she takes the bus, walks steps during the day, and other factors, it may take longer.  Your best bet is to ask her doctor.
