QuestionWe just learned through a law firm that my husbands hip is indeed part of a recall by the manufacturer and we've not been notified of this through his dr. at all. In fact the dr. after doing both hips in 2 years...and my husband has gone back time and time again in pain....and 14 cortezone injections in both hips (said it was bursitis) then after that sent my husband to a back dr...b/c it was coming from the back...here to find out that there is a recall on the hip type my husband has in him that causes undo pain...etc,. what do we do now? we dont want to go back to the dr who did this to him..and wouldnt help him...we have no faith and trust in him....will another dr. touch my husband?
AnswerHi Carol, What I would try and do is make sure the doctor that did the the surgeries did in fact know there was a recall. I would like to think however he was notified.
I cannot get specific here as I am not well versed on the actual recall. But if you are working at all with a lawyer or there is one involved please check with them regarding your next move.
I know in the past most surgeons that did the original surgery would be more then happy to replace the one in recall. In your case I see that is out of the question.
You can call around other orthopedic doctors and get their opinion regarding whether they would get involved or, call the manufacture of the prosthesis in question in see what they advise or can help you in anyway regarding the decision to where to go next.
Good Luck
