QuestionI am not sure if you can help, but I went and had an mri arthrogram on my shoulder and they found no tears but my shoulder has laxity. I am a freshman and college and play softball here. I am a catcher. What would be the best treatment opition for this and can I damage it further?
AnswerHi Jessica,
It sounds like a situation where overuse is involved. Its not uncommon to see this and surgery in most cases is not something strongly considered at this time.
Generally a conservative treatment protocol with exercise is in order at first and if you have a sports medicine department or PT school where you attend it would be worth looking into as well.
If not I would suggest a going to a local out-patient physical therapy clinic and have them instruct you in the proper way of strengthening the shoulder and the surrounding muscles to help tighten it up.
let me know how you do with this information.
Good Luck with your softball career.
