QuestionHi,
I was wondering if you could help me out with this problem I am having.I am 28 years old and I am having severe pain in my right hand but only with my ring finger. I have had the pain since December. I can't close my hand all the way without pain on a 10 scale. If you push, pull, or bend my ring finger, the pain in the hand and finger becomes severe. I did not suffer an injury that I can think of, I thought I just slept on it wrong. But since it didn't get better I went to urgent care.
The doctor there did X-rays and found no break. He believed I have cysts on the tendon connecting my ring finger to the hand. He put me on a steroid regiment and told to wear a brace at night. Well, that worked for a week. The pain went away but as soon as I ended my steroids the pain came back, and worse. Do you know what it could be??? The doctor thought I might need surgery to cut out the cysts or tears. He's no orthopedic doctor so I deduce he doesn't have knowlegde on the exact cause of the pain. Why is the pain so severe??? I am getting health insurance soon and plan to see the doctor right away. Please help!!! Thank you for your time.
AnswerBrandan,
I am not quite sure what it could be either at this time with the information you have provided.
I would however go see a hand specialist as soon as you can to get this resolved and get some intelligent information from someone that works primarily with hands.
that would be your next move if it does not or has not cleared up by now.
