Question
I fractured my left fifth cuboid (they call it tarsal head here in Dominica) last Sunday (ten days ago) It was initially displaced but moved during the Xray which showed it in place but with two crack lines. The injury was  caused when I fell down my step (whilst texting!) I have been in a plaster cast "boot" elevated and immobilised until yesterday when I finally saw an orthopedist. He ordered the cast off and gave me an airboot and told me to walk walk......The physio told me to use crutches and to apply ice. Can you advise about weight bearing please. The pain at rest is OK . 400 ibruprofen od is sufficient. Do you recommend ice, massage and non weight bearing movement? if so how often? to increase blood supply or should I really be walking on it? I weigh over 200lbs! Thanks Doc

Answer
Dear Tina,

This Orthopedic Chicago Podiatrist located in West Loop 60661,Roscoe Village 60618, Ukrainian Village 60622, Elmhurst 60126 & Bartlett 60103 says..
For your cuboid fracture.Try partial weight bearing & ease into it slowly. If you feel any pain---too much weight.,Your walking should be pain free to minimal discomfort-which should not increase with your activities.
Hope this helps & Good Luck!
