QuestionI underwent hemi replacement of right hip with a cemented prosthesis on 21.04.2009. After walker and crutches, I was advised to walk short distances without aid after 06 weeks and this went off well. I am also taking the professional services of a Physical Therapist. Lately, I experience immense pain in the knee and foot with inflamation. Walking is painful. I have to jump start a few steps and then stabilize with increased limping. Please let me know the causes and relief.

AnswerNormally cemented prostheses are very stable, so I doubt that the prosthesis is the cause of your problems.
Have the therapist look at your gait. If your gait is off, that would cause you pain. Also have the therapist check to see if your leg lengths are the same. If your legs are different lengths, this can cause pain as well.
Hope this helps.
