Question
I have heard of different surgeries.  All things being equal, how soon after a Total Hip replacement can I weightbear?  How soon after an ORIF (open reduction, internal fixation ?) could I weightbear?  Which one allows quicker return to the upright/ wtbear position/ walk?

thanks for your time.
Sal

This Chicago Podiatrist, Elmhurst Podiatrist & South Loop Podiatrist says.......

Dear Sal,
Usually the surgeries with smaller incisions heal quicker.
The type of implant will dictate healing time also.
A stem implant will take longer to heal than an implant that caps the femoral head.
Most important is the skill of the surgeon & your commitment to post-op physical therapy.
These questions should be discussed between you surgeon & your second opinion specialist
Good Luck!
