Question
Dr.,
I began with a stabbing pain when in the area of the lateral sulcus of the ankle. It bothered me the most when i would simple kneel down on one knee with my weight centered over the affected side. I suffer from plantar fasciatis and calf stretches are one of my exercises I been doing for rehab. I did some slow one legged eccentric heel drops it hurt at first but it seem to make it better. On palpating the area hurt I noticed a sharp bony projection deep in the sulcus just lateral to the extensor digitorum longus tendon. What is this exactly? I believe "this" was impinging on some other structure causing me pain.

For your foot anatomy question...
The bone that you are feeling is the calcaneus. The bony prominence may be the posterior lateral tubercle.
Hope this helps & Good Luck!
