QuestionI'm fifteen and a sophomore in high school. I'm very much into medicine, volunteer in a hospital, and am wondering about shadowing a doctor. Being a volunteer, we don't really get to see much of what a doctor does. Have you ever had someone shadow you? And have you ever had someone that young shadow you? I know that there are privacy laws/issues, so I don't even know if the is feasible. Thanks for reading!

Dear Angie,
It's very admirable that you would like to become a doctor. I would approach the volunteer director with your interests and hopefully you can have assignments with more physician contact.
Due to patient privacy and rights issue,it is not up to the doctor in regards as to whom sees treatment. The patient has to give approval-and this involves a lot of paperwork.
Perhaps a local doctor or your doctor's office may be able to allow you to help with their patients.
Hope This Helps
