Sciatica Pain in Leg?

Question
I am 60 years old and fairly active.  I play in a rec hockey league.  I do not have any pain in my left leg while I play, stand or lay down.  However, when I sit for any time, I start having pain in the rear of my butt, behind my hip bone.  Then pain begins to radiate from behind my knee. Then the back of my hip will hurt and sometimes my calve.  When I stand up, the pain can be excruciating.  After standing and walking around for just a short time, the pain goes away.  I don't take anything for it.  I was on Pradaxa when I was being treated for atrial fibrillation, but since my cryoablation, I have only been taking 1 aspirin a day.  Got any ideas?

Thank you

Answer
Dear Puis
This Chicago, Bartlett & Elmhurst Podiatrist says....

Sounds like your pain may be due to sciatica-or some arthritis of the sciatic joints that irritates the sciatic nerve. Check a dermatome chart on the internet to see the area that matches-S1-S2. Try gentle buttox, thigh and calf stretches before & after the game and try a different seated position. If it continues to bother you, then go see a good Board Certified Podiatrist or orthopedist.

Hope this helps!
Good Luck My Friend!
