heel pain after ORIF

Question
I had an ORIF of a Trimalleolar fracture in my left ankle on May 17th. I had intermittent severe heel pain after being discharged from the hospital. Yesterday I had my first post-op visit and he removed my splint to take x-rays and said it was doing well. As soon as the splint came off, I had a great deal of pain, before I left the office my surgeon put the back of the splint on and some gauze pads and one ace wrap. I am still in alot of pain, but I am worries about the CONSTANT severe heel pain now. It was doing much better before yesterday, but last night I couldn't even sleep. Pain medication doesn't even touch the pain. I don't know if this is normal .

This Chicago, South Loop & Elmhurst Podiatrist of AnklenfootCenters.com says.......

Dear Laurel,
For your heel pain. Please call your foot surgeon ASAP and have this discussion with them.
I do not give advice during post-operative care. This is the patient's responsibility to seek immediate help regarding any concerns.
It may be normal to have heel pain following ORIF---but please ask your surgeon!
Hope This Helps!
and
Good Luck!
