Question
About a year ago i dislocated my finger. I didnt see a dictor until several months later and he had me do a sort of physical therapy fir a week and that was it. My joint is still enlarged and painful when hit or used a lot. Is there anything that can be done to correct this at all or is it stuck like this?

Answer
Dear Melissa,
This Chicago Podiatrist, Elmhurst Podiatrist & West Loop Podiatrist says.......
Try to get a better diagnosis. Sometimes with dislocations there is an injury to the bone where the joint attaches. If the enlargement is due to a bone chip or bone spur following the injury-then the joint will probably stay enlarged. If the swelling is due just to the soft tissue (joint capsule &/or tendon) then therapy or a cortisone injection may help with the swelling and pain. A hand surgeon is your best bet.

Good Luck!
