QuestionA couple months ago (7/24/12)I fractured my middle finger on my left hand. I did the Rest, Ice, Compress, and Elevate. I Went to my Doctor and had X-ray. They showed a fracture in the middle of the finger. I had a splint for about 8 weeks, I just recently took it off. But, now I am not able to bend my finger all the way. It feels like if I were over stretching the skin, and it is also painful. Is this normal? Or should I go back to my Doctor or an Orthopedic surgeon? Thank you.
AnswerYou dont say exactly what kind of fracture you had and where on the middle finger..but generally 8 weeks of splinting of a finger joint is extremely long ( did you miss follow up appts??) and is likely going to make finger joint really stiff..I would get in to a ortho.
