QuestionOk, sorry to bother you with this question, but the podiatrist is on vacation. A little over a year ago, I kicked the corner of a table and injured the the second from largest toe on my right foot--it hurt, of course, but I didn't know how to tell if it was broken. I didn't go see a doctor; I just put it on ice and the bulk of the pain eventually went away, since I hear that they can't do much for a broken toe anyway. The toe developed a bump (spur?) after the injury. That in itself isn't much of a problem, but after standing or walking for long periods of time, or if I bend the toe the 'wrong' way, it still aches, even a year after. I'm positive this is a result of the previous injury. Is there anything I can do to permanently stop the pain, or is it something I will have to live with for the rest of my life? Thank you for your time!
AnswerHi Wade,
Ouch, that sounds painful! I'm sorry to say that I really can't give you a definitive answer on this. If there is a bump, it could be a spur, or it could be that the bone never healed properly. You should really have a doctor look at it because after a year, it probably shouldn't be hurting anymore.
Best wishes!
