Lumbar Support

Most patients who are in need of chiropractic treatment have performed day-to-day tasks without proper lumbar support. Lumbar support is necessary for good posture and healthy functioning. It is especially important when engaging in tasks that require lifting or being seated for extended periods of time. Most patients simply don't know the proper way to lift, or that they should always keep good posture, even when sitting at a computer. Either that, or they do know they should engage in proper posture, but simply don't do it until after they've begun to experience pain.

The Types of Lumbar Support Your Patients Need

These patients need lumbar support. When stocking your office, you'll need to have support belts, back braces, and pillows that can give your patients the support they need. Purchasing such supplies through an online vendor is easy and cost-effective--oftentimes, you can find vendors who don't charge for shipping, or who will charge very little. It's also a great timesaver for office personnel who are in charge of ordering or procurement.

One type of lumbar support you'll want to have on hand is industrial support belts. These belts fit tightly around the waist, providing adequate lumbar support for heavy lifting tasks. Some belts have suspenders that fit over a wearer's shoulders; others simply encircle the waist. Hook and eye closures are the most secure, as opposed to Velcro.

There are also lumbar support aids made especially for women. There are back support cinchers, pregnancy support belts, and more. The back support garments are often multi-purpose, in that they will work as body shapers and posture enhancers, too. A woman's lower vertebrae are most sensitive to stress and damage, even when heavy lifting isn't a part of her duties. Wearing a supportive garment that aligns the spine and enforces proper posture will lead to far fewer instances of back pain.
