Chiropractic pillows are designed to promote proper neck support and muscle relaxation. These pillows can enhance treatment received via e stim, and are good for patient home care, in between visits. They may also be useful for enhanced neck support during sleep.
There are many different types of pillows, too. Patients may prefer a padded oval-shaped pillow that offers vibrational massage as well. Other pillows are specifically designed for the express purpose of providing proper spinal alignment during sleep. These pillows have a cross shape, with wedge extensions that support a patient's upper back. Good pillows will also have cervical contours to support a patient's neck properly. Correct spinal alignment also helps reduce snoring.
You may also want to have lumbar support pillows on hand for both patients and office workers. Lumbar pillows provide lateral and vertical support, and make uncomfortable office chairs more bearable. They are also useful for long car trips or uncomfortable plastic stadium seating. When you are able to relieve your patients' low back disc pressure, you'll reduce their pain and fatigue, too. Lumbar pillows are one piece and easy to transport.
There are also inflatable lumbar support pillows. These pillows let you inflate them to the desired level of support. They are much easier to customize per patient or user, but they are generally more expensive and a bit less portable than other lumbar pillows. Your choice will depend on the needs of your practice. Inflatable pillows are often preferred to cervical support pillows.
