One of the most effective treatments for upper left back pain is pain medication. Over the counter painkillers such as Tylenol and Aspirin may be enough for you, but if your pain is more serious then you may need stronger medication.

Your doctor may prescribe prescription strength anti-inflammatories or may prefer to use combination opioid/acetaminophen medications such as Vicoden or Percocet.

You can definitely trust in your doctor to choose the right medication for you, and yet at the same time you want to make sure that you are familiar with the type of medication that they are considering and of what the, if any, side effects are. This is important because there may be so many possible side effects that you just might have to weigh out the pros and cons offered by the medication. Also remember that some are very easy to become dependent on, so you really need to be careful and make sure to take the proper dosage.
