Back Pain In Early Pregnancy

Although pregnancy is commonly a wonderful experience, there are several associated discomforts including indigestion, varicose veins, morning sickness, leg cramps as well as the early pregnancy back pain. Muscles of the back need to be strong to support the joints. Also the back muscles must be flexible so skeletal movements can occur without restrictions. If the abdominal muscles are weak, the lower back is vulnerable to injury because it is not well supported for strenuous activities. The other reason of back pain is the poor posture such as slouching or repetitive bending can also cause back pain during early pregnancy stage. Pregnant women suffer from significant changes in their posture due to the increased body weight distribution at the abdomen. If poor postural habits are coupled with, they are at even greater risk of injury. There are several correct and incorrect ways to perform activities as basic as getting out of bed or walking down the stairs. Learning how to perform correctly these everyday tasks will minimize strain to the back and reduce the likelihood of pregnancy back pain.

It is important to keep in mind that the body of the pregnant women and their baby are changing and preparing over forty long weeks for the anxiously awaited birth. Women must take time to prepare both physically and mentally for the challenge of pregnancy and childbirth. For that it is important to learn and perform the back pain exercises during the various stages of the pregnancy. By performing the back muscle exercises, it can help women to prevent and manage the back pain and achieve a balance between stability and flexibility. This will also assist in their labor, delivery and post-partum recovery. The good body mechanics and right body posture also play an important role in keeping one free of early pregnancy back pain. The right body posture for prevention of back pain early pregnancy is standing straight and tall. The importance for right postures, however, is as essential in early pregnancy as before that. In later stage of pregnancy, as the uterus becomes big, one tends to pull back her shoulders to offset the additional weight, which results in a back strain.
