Is there a connection between left arm pain and anxiety? Add to that, is there any evidence of an underlying condition such as a heart disease when these symptoms make way? And if there is, why exactly does it happen? Let us try to find the solution to that in the following article.

Anxiety. Ever been anxious about something? I'm sure you have. So you know what anxiety symptoms feel like, right? There's the heart beating harder, the breathing strained and probably the head starting to pound little by little. For many, there's also a mild or severe pain experienced in different parts of the body. One of the most common places that begin to show signs of pain is the left arm. What is the connection between left arm pain and anxiety? The following article will get into a little more detail about this as well as other related conditions and try to explore the answer to the connection between the two.

Anxiety Pain Symptoms

There are two kinds of anxiety-related pains that usually manifest themselves in a human. These are - physiological and psychological. Here are some of the anxiety pain symptoms that are commonly noticed.
  • Feeling restless and edgy
  • Having muscle pain and tension
  • Experiencing shooting pain in body parts, especially arms
  • Excessive sweating
  • Headaches
  • Difficulty in concentrating
  • Experiencing fatigue and tiredness
  • Increased need to visit the bathroom frequently
  • Irritability and impatience
  • Having trouble sleeping
  • Shaking and shivering
  • Dry mouth
  • Hyperactivity
  • Experiencing nightmares
  • Heartburn, diarrhea, constipation and indigestion
  • Tingling fingers
  • Experiencing depression and suicidal thoughts
  • Needles pricking sensation in different parts of the body
  • Anxiety pain in arms
  • Hallucinations
  • Constant worrying
  • Dramatization of problems
  • Chest pain
It is important to note that neither of these symptoms like arm pain at night will cause any threat to a person. These simply come about because of an abnormal increase in the levels of adrenaline in the blood stream, which result in inappropriate bodily functions. So when the stimulus which is causing the anxiety is eliminated, these symptoms will go away on their own.

Anxiety Pain in Left Arm

The symptom of anxiety pain in the left arm has been noticed by several people when they have a bout of anxiety. They first notice the pain in their arm and later realize that they were anxious over something. Along with that, there is also chest pain and a tingling sensation up and down their arms or fingers. The most common cause of all these symptoms experienced together is taken to be that of a heart attack. Provided the pain in your arms does not come about constantly or very often, when all these symptoms are felt together, they are usually related to heart attack warning signs. But this does not mean that every time you experience these symptoms, it is an indication of a heart attack. It is not always a heart attack that causes this and especially not so when it keeps happening over and over again.

Many times people notice that they are anxious about something and that it manifests itself in the form of pain in the left or right arm. For many people, the pain does not develop in either arms but could come about in any other part of the body as well. In short, anxiety pain, like I said before, is due to the excess flow of adrenaline in the blood stream that causes abnormal activities and bodily functions. In short, it is the body's way of telling you that something is wrong and needs to be dealt with. That is why, many people do not have an inkling that they are under stress until they experience anxiety pain.

What is interesting to note is that the pain usually disappears if one exercises. This happens because exercises eliminate the toxins that have built up and therefore dissipate the tension before it has a chance of affecting the patient adversely.

Other than an indication of a heart attack, there are also some other conditions that can cause for anxiety and thereby lead to pain in the left arm. One of the prominent ones is a condition known as coronary artery disease. In this condition, there is pain experienced in the center of the chest along with the left arm.

Angina pectoris is a condition that is characterized by severe pain in the chest as well as radiating pain in the left arm. This is brought on by a lack of proper oxygen supply to the heart.

The next time you have pain, check if you're tensed or anxious about something. It has been proven that left arm pain and anxiety are related to each other. And when you do find out what the cause is, then work towards getting rid of the same. If you still want to eliminate all harbored doubts about the pain, get a check up done.
