A bone injury or fracture is a painful condition of bones, which may take weeks, month and even years to heal. It all depends on the condition of the broken or injured bone. Bone injuries can be minor such as hairline fracture as well as major such as full break.

The doctors which deal with a bone injury are called orthopaedicians. They are the only persons who can detect the severity of bone fracture and can treat it accordingly. X-rays and other advanced technologies are hired to check the right status of an injured bone and treat it accordingly.

Bone injuries and fractures are common disorders and can occur among all age groups. It is often said that such injuries occur due to automobile accidents or hits. However, it is not always true. There are numerous other causes of bone fractures, which have nothing to do with accidents. It is recommended to consult a doctor whenever you feel a discomfort in any bone of your body.

Common Causes of Bone Injuries

a) A common cause for bone fractures is bone thinning or osteoporosis. Osteoporosis often results in bone fractures as it alters bone protein and minerals, and makes it weak. Weakened bones are more prone to injuries.

b) Bone fractures often occur among sport athletes. As they have higher level of stress and force applied on bones, their bones get weak and are a victim of fractures easily.

c) Yet another common cause of bone fractures is falls, slips, hits or accidents. All of these unfortunate accidents are likely to bring traumas to your bones, eventually causing major and minor injuries.

d) Old people are more prone to bone injuries as their bones lose the required calcium and proteins due to age factor.

Treatments of Bone Injuries

: In case you have a serious bone fracture, you may require urgent medical surgery and may take long time to recover.

: Minor bone disorders can be healed with some medicines, ointments and therapies.

: At times, you may be required to go for bone alignment process. In this process, doctors insert temporary pins to provide proper alignment to your bone. Once it gets settled in the right place, these pins are removed.

Apart from professional expertise, you are required to have complete rest in case of a bone fracture or any other disorder and avoid soaking injured bone in water.

Always take expert advice of medical professionals. Keep in mind that any fracture which is left untreated will heal improperly, which can later on result in pain and problems in movement.
