Arthritis is a very common disease which causes inflammation in joints. The main symptoms are swelling and pain in the joints. This is a very painful disease but it can be prevented and also countered by infusing some very common food items in your daily diet. Basically, what a person needs to do is to make sure that he is taking in one or more of the compounds that combat this disease. These compounds include Omega-3 Fats, Calcium, Vitamin B6, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Folate and Isoflavones. These are present in a lot of food items that are in our daily use, however, we name some of those in which their contents are relatively higher.

Bananas

When we think of bananas the first word that comes to our mind is ‘potassium.’ It is a widely known fact that bananas are the richest source of potassium intake; however they are also rich in Vitamin B6, calcium and folate; all of which are great arthritis fighters. Bananas are so beneficial that a famous medical newspapers “Pulse” called it equally rich in minerals as an apple. Bananas also help to lock calcium in your bones. So eating a couple of bananas every day is good for you, even if are not in a war with arthritis.

We all know that citrus fruits are a rich source of Vitamin C. Here is some amazing news: Sweet peppers are even richer in Vitamin C than any citrus fruit. They are also an excellent source of Vitamin B6 and folate. So it is a good idea to have them in your salads or casseroles every now and then.

Salmon

Salmon is a favorite of the American population because of its low-fat qualities. It is taken as a diet food by people trying to lose weight. It is also the richest source of Omega-3 fatty acids, these are not the sort of fats that make you gain weight, but they are healthy fats that help you prevent cardiovascular diseases. They prevent blood clots and also repair damaged arteries. Salmons are also a good intake of Calcium, Vitamin D, and folate.

Soy Products

Like Salmon, soy products have also made their way into the health-food shelves because of their effective roles in helping with cardiovascular diseases. But they are also extreme protectors of our bones. It is due to the fact that they contain a compound called isoflavones and a healthy amount of Vitamin E and Calcium. The most common soy product is soy milk, make for those who want to avoid lactose or cholesterol found in regular milk.

Sweet potatoes

According to the Center for Science in the Public Interest, sweet potatoes are the extremely rich in nutrition. These tubers are a rich source of Vitamin C, Folate, Vitamin B6 and dietary fibers along with other nutrients. They are best when bought fresh, as opposed to canned. They are also not to be frozen, though they require a cool storage place. But they must not be refrigerated. They are the easiest to consume as they can be boiled and eaten straight with a light sprinkle of salt and pepper.

Cheese

Cheese is famous for being an excellent source of calcium which is the most important compound needed to strengthen our bones. Cheese also provides proteins for muscles and other joint-supporting tissues. Even though the amount depends on the type, cheese is also a good source for Vitamin B6 and folate.
