Rheumatoid arthritis is a debilitating disease where the individual's autoimmune system is under the misconception that the joints are foreign matter. This prompts the autoimmune system to attack the joints causing them to inflame. Rheumatoid arthritis and the affects of this disease can be very painful and can even cause loss of mobility of some joints. Rheumatoid arthritis is common and affects many people.

This very painful, debilitating disease can torment sufferers for many years. There is actually no known cure for his dreaded disease but studies have lead us to finding relief from the symptoms of the disease as well as how to redirect the progress of the disease. People's lives have been greatly affected by this disease.

Effects Of Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rheumatoid arthritis is painful and it affects people in varying ways. This is because the joints that it effects are prone to degeneration and damage. This disease can affect other tissues of the body including the heart, lungs, skin, blood vessels and muscles. Rheumatoid arthritis progresses and affects people often to the point of debilitation. Destruction and deformity of the affected areas are to be expected. Other effects of rheumatoid arthritis are the loss of mobility in the area which it affects such as the hands and the legs.

Rheumatoid arthritis can and will affect the pulmonary region as well as the cardiac area. Systemic inflammation is the results of rheumatoid arthritis and it affects the joints. This is the effects of the inflammation of the joints leaving its mark on the other organs. Rheumatoid arthritis is common and affects many people.

Causes Of Rheumatoid Arthritis

Although, it is known that the cause of rheumatoid arthritis is the autoimmune system attacking the joints, the reason for this is unknown. Science has not come up with why the joints are seen as foreign objects, warranting the attack from the individual's autoimmune system. The best that Science can come up with are the ways to relieve the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and how it affects different people.

Disease modifying anti rheumatic drugs have been developed in the hopes that these will combat rheumatoid arthritis and how it affects people so that many can be relieved of this painful and often debilitating condition. These DMARDs can actually reduce the damage to the bone and cartilage causes by the disease. Research is still ongoing on many other drugs that may help to fight the battle against rheumatoid arthritis.
