If your joints hurt, sure, you can pop some pills, apply some ice, or even rub in a topical cream. But how about a delicious beverage instead? Packed with beneficial antioxidants to help support overall good health, this beverage has recently been found to help ease nagging joint pain, too!
Does it sound too good to be true? Take a look at these study results and decide for yourself.
The study found that drinking pomegranate juice can help improve physical function and joint stiffness, as well as reduce breakdown cartilage enzymes and boost antioxidants in the body.
The study consisted of 38 participants, all with knee osteoarthritis, which is a type of arthritis brought on by wear and tear of the joints. The participants were randomly assigned to one of the two groups: The first group consumed pomegranate juice for six weeks, and the other group served as a control group.
The results showed a significant decrease in the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis index (WOMAC), with scores going down from 39.6 to 32.4 among those who consumed pomegranate juice.
Previous studies have also found that antioxidants in pomegranates help reduce cartilage inflammation.
The study reveals that daily pomegranate juice intake may be a viable natural remedy for treating joint pain, while preserving cartilage and boosting mobility.
Pomegranates are often hailed for their antioxidant content. Antioxidants help fight off free radical damage responsible for wrinkles, vision loss, and other health problems. The more antioxidants come your way, the better your body can fight off the toxins you are exposed to on a daily basis.
Still on the fence? There’s more to pomegranates than just their antioxidant power. In fact, antioxidants…
As you can see, pomegranates can aid in all aspects of health. Eating the fruit or drinking pomegranate juice regularly can help optimize your health and keep you in good shape.
