In many cases, bone cancer mainly results from the cancer that spreads from the other parts of the body. Primary bone cancer in the back is very rare and is not seen generally. The healthy bone cells are destroyed by the cancer in the back and various symptoms are caused. Not only the bones of the back are destroyed by the cancerous tumors, but the spinal cord is also damaged. The symptoms of bone cancer in back include fractures, pain, weakness and numbness.

Pain
This is one of the most common symptoms of bone cancer in back. The most common sign of this bone cancer will be pain in the back or neck. There will be persistence of pain and this will usually be accompanied by various other symptoms. As there will be a growth of cancer in the spine, the spinal cord will be crowded and nerves will be pinched. Pain will mainly come from the pinched nerves. The pressure of the tumor will push the spinal bones apart from the fractures. This can damage the nerves around the spinal bones. A lot of pain is caused. The site of tumor becomes very tender to touch. Tenderness is a sign which has grown very large and can cause a lot of damage to the surrounding healthy tissues.

Weakened bones
The bones will be weakened by bone cancer. Even the bones in the spine will be weakened. Sometimes, they may break as well. A lot of pain, permanent damage and problems with movement can be caused due a small fracture in the spine. These weak spinal bones may lead to permanent issues with posture and movement. These fractured spinal bones can server or cut into the nerves of the spinal cord. This may lead to paralysis. As the spine is damaged by cancer, one may notice that his posture is affected. If the spinal bones are fractured or weak, the spine finds it very difficult to remain straight. One also begins to hunch forward at the shoulder.

Neurological symptoms
As there is a growth of cancer in the spine, the nerves in and around the spinal cord may be pinched. The arms and legs will be caused to fall asleep or become numb. Tingling sensations may also be experienced in the limbs. This is because there is fluctuation of pressure on the nerves. This may lead to weakness and the hands and legs become challenging. A person will start facing trouble walking or will feel clumsy. The control of the bowels and bladder may also be lost.

Thus, there are very few symptoms of bone cancer in back. One must note them thoroughly and consult the doctor for the same.
